Day 76 1/10/2022
Odometer 32,052 – 32,062 —- 10 Miles (9362 Miles Total)
Cartagena, Colombia
I extended my stay one more day here since I didn’t get to see too much of Carta the last few days with how busy I’ve been. I slept in a bit this morning and went right to Crossfit for the 10Am class. It was supposed to be a group class but then they asked me if I could do it alone because no one else showed up. I did my warm up and they were about to start the clock for me but then asked me if I could wait for someone else to warm up and get on the clock too so I waited another 5 minutes. Right when he was done another person showed up. it’s funny how not on time anyone ever is down here! hah. Good thing I wasn’t in a rush. These people are absolutely fucking brutal. I couldn’t even finish the workout with the heat and how bad my quads hurt from the Saturday class. I was absolutely burnt out. I tried my best and collapsed at the end. I went to the hostel and slipped right into the pool to cool off.
I took a shower and went out into the city for a huge breakfast. Once I was stuffed I went for a walk to the cafe on the other side of the city to get that caramel volcano chocolate cake I got with the girls the other day. Jesus christ i’m going to miss this thing once I leave it was so good. I must have sweated out a liter of water between walking for breakfast and dessert. I got back to the hostel and I decided it was time to change the oil on my bike. I was doing it 1500 miles sooner than I needed to but since my coolant boiled in Guatemala I wasn’t sure if it damaged the oil at all so I was going to change it. I found some old big water bottles in the trash and I got lucky with all of that to make the oil change easier. I got it all done in about 25 minutes in front of the hostel while melting in the sun. I was hauling this oil around since Panama so I was happy to get the weight out of my bike as well.
Once I did that and cooled off I decided to just lay in the hammock at the hostel and try to nap. I was exhausted from the gym and not being able to escape the heat all day. My body needed to rest. I laid in the hammock for a few hours and then decided I would go out for lunch. First I went out to try to book some salsa classes for the night but after walking around for an hour and going to three different locations since they moved a few times I found out they were closed. Bummer. I went back to the street area with two large cups of lime and mandarin juice from a street cart. I went into the old city to walk around and take pictures and then walked back for another arepa with more juice and I went back to the hostel. I worked on the blog for a bit and did the whole picture thing.
I went back out to the center for some more food, ice cream and snacks and just hung out alone for a while. I’m ready to meet some fun people and stick with them for a few days. I’m getting a bit bored. I made the decision to leave in the morning to go to Medellin. My GPS said it was going to be a 13 hour ride. Ugh this is going to suck. At least I had a few days to just chill out and not ride so I’ll be ready for this long ride. I’m calling it a night early so I can get up early to make it to Medellin.

The Dutch girls sent me this picture. They were sitting next to the pool in Minca and Daniella recognized them from my Instagram pictures. What a small world!
