Day 54 12/19/2021
Odometer 29,600 – 29,665—– 65 Miles (6960 Miles Total)
El Paredon, Guatemala – Antigua, Guatemala
I woke up this morning after a lovely night of sleep at 6am and realized I left my motorcycle jacket and helmet outside on the lawn next to the reception when I checked yesterday. I ran out there in a hurry and thankfully it was still there. I can’t believe im making dumb mistakes like this. My jacket was $1700 and my helmet was $1000. If someone stole that I would have cried. I need to focus a bit more! I sat there and watched the view of the sunrise lighting over the pool at the hostel. It was breathtaking. I wanted to stick around here for most of the day but not pay for another night. Michelle said I could hang with them and leave my bike at their place with my bags in her car so no one would touch it. Perfect.
I would head back to Antigua later on in the day, crash there for the night and then head to El Salvador tomorrow since I didn’t want to deal with all of that leaving El Paredon so late. We went out for smoothies in the morning, lounged around most of the morning and then rented kayaks. We went out for about an hour kayaking through the mangroves which turned into a dead end. The water was smelly and brown so it wasn’t too much fun.
On the way back to their compound to shower we stopped by a piece of land Michelle was selling. She’s a real estate agent in Antigua and she has this land up for sale for someone. We stopped by to check it out and it looked pretty good. It would need to get cleared out completely and start fresh. The lot was about $60,000 but she says the owner would probably take $45,000 cash. I really want to get it but it on the other side of the main road and a bit small. Ill need some time to think about it but I would love to get it and build my own little house on it and just chill out here for the winters.
We all showered up after kayaking and all parted ways. I had a nice ride back to Antigua, got a place to crash and passed out. I wanted to get another private salsa class but they were all booked up for the night. Bummer. It was quite a relaxing and boring day which I was very happy with. I’m gonna have a few long days ahead of me on the bike so this was a nice time to relax and recover.
Sunrise at the hostel! WOW
Kayaking with my new friends in the mangroves
