Day 19 11/14/2021
Odometer- 26,113 – 26,340 —– 227 Miles Today (3640 Miles Total)
Guanajuato to Valle De Bravo
Opening lines on these are starting to get repetitive. Everyday it starts with “I got up at sunrise”.
I got up at sunrise today, packed up and rode a little bit into town to get breakfast before my 7 hour ride today. I parked in an illegal spot but i could at least see my bike and figured eh i’ll be quick so i probably wont get a ticket. 20 Minutes later I look over and a police officer is obviously fuming that I parked there.
Right after i got into Mexico i put on a laminated photocopy of my license plate i made at staples in NY. I had a huge fear on my last trip of losing or or having it stolen. Cops also take your license plate off here when you get any sort of fine. You’re supposed to go pick the plate up at a local police station and when you pay your fine you get your license plate back. So I started giggling when the cop got on his knees and tried to take the plate off but I guess he didn’t have the right tools so he couldn’t. I was bummed I couldn’t get a good laugh out of tricking him and he was even more annoyed. He started walking around in a hurry in the area looking for a motorcyclist so I hid my helmet under the table and just smiled. As soon as he got around the corner I dropped my money on the table for my breakfast and jetted to the bike and made my getaway.
I was heading to Valle De Bravo today which was about 7 hours away taking the backroads. I feel like my bike is going to get destroyed by hitting a speed bump every 2 minutes, literally. It’s quite annoying and you can’t see them when the shade from the trees is hitting the road. That’s one reason I can’t wait to get out of Mexico. The roads to the destination today were beautiful. Lots of twisty roads through the mountains. It was about 55-60 most of the way which kind of sucked but better then 90 i guess sweating in my gear. I feel like I keep saying I officially escaped the winter but I’m still wearing my down jacket everyday! The scenery was quite different today. It felt like I was riding in Northern California with all the pine trees in the mountains. The very clean cool air, the smell of the pine trees, twisty roads, and animals everywhere was gorgeous. Everything was so green and lush. I came out of the roads to see the hillsides of farms and cornfields everywhere with houses laid out in beautiful lines. Unfortunately for you guys I was having a great time and just didn’t stop to take any pictures of them. I got to my destination today, checked into my hostel and made a tour around the city checking it out along with the lake and took some pictures. Worked on the website for a few hours tonight, adding all the last days of the trips for everyone and hopefully I’ll start adding some pictures to them as well. Keeping track of this all is so much work but I’m sure i’ll appreciate it one day in the future, and hopefully a lot of you are loving it!

Glad your plate wasn’t taken. Last time I was in Mexico and man came back to the cruise ship with his head cracked open. They ran him over on a scooter. They’re gangsta out there. Heard the roads are treacherous. I’m loving all your journaling and pictures Marko. Sending so much love to your heart. Ten Cuidado (Be careful) stay safe.
